Yes, this is happening, and not only for digital content. For example there is a ton of stuff in Amazon.com you cannot buy from Finland.

For example, a Wacom tablet in Amazon.com is $269.99. In Finland 349 euros ($442).

For digital content (videos and web pages) using a proxy masks the nationality quite easily, but for physical objects this is unfortunately not possible.

Well, this American's noticed it. I can't get to certain videos and content from outside the US. And I've had some websites that force me to an English language site when I'm actually going for the German or Spanish. And within the US there are certain sites that are starting to force local content on you--sites that rearrange to give you Dallas news or local Kansas City Bands or the events calendar for D.C. or whether for Seattle--based on where you're logging on. It's generally a pain to override (if it's even possible). Might be nice for locals, but it's a nightmare for people who are just passing through or trying to get information about another location.

Out of curiosity, is it just sites with a heavy US factor that are messing with you out of NZ, or have you had any of this re-routing from non-US sites?

The new facebook is utterly confusing and everyone hates it. Try this though. In the lower left hand corner you should see a facebook logo with the words 'applications' beside it. If you click on it, a large menu pops up. Scroll down until you see an icon of two figures beside each other labled 'groups'. You can then drag and drop it at the top of your menu so it's easier to find. If you put it above the line, it should show up as a clickable bookmark to the right of the 'applications' link.

Hope this helps. :)

I downloaded Chrome a few weeks ago but haven't used it much. Don't know if its the browser or my pc but it crashes or hangs up on me a lot. It looks sleek and I am hopeful though. It's prob just my pc.
